Being able to be a part of the amazing journeys of so many of our clients is one of the most fulfilling parts of what we do. We are excited to share some of these success stories with you and hope they will inspire you as much as they have us.
Michael Soberski of our client, Tom O’Brien Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, has successfully lost 60 pounds in the last 7 months and said he found solace and peace in his pursuit of physical fitness!
American Health & Wellness Group Health Coach, Paige Bixler sat down and interviewed Michael learn more about his incredible story:
1. When did your wellness story begin?
My story begins at the beginning of the 2019 year. I was going through a very mentally rough time in my life and found solace and peace in my pursuit of physical fitness.
2. How much weight did you say you have lost?
This year alone I have lost about 60 pounds. Went from the 315 range down to 265 as of 7/1/19.
3. What people have helped you achieve your goal?
I really owe myself for getting me to the point I am. As stated above, I had been going through a very rough time in my life and could have easily made some very poor choices as to how I was going to manage myself mentally and physically. So I am very thankful for myself in making smarter and healthier choices for myself as far as how I was going to cope with the dark times.
4. How have you been achieving your goals?
Watching what, when (I was following a variant method of intermittent fasting), and how much I consume while balancing my physical training to a more even cardio to weight lifting ratio.
5. What was your biggest roadblock?
Staying motivated. There were times in the last 7 months that I was finding the most happiness in life by going to the gym and working the stress out.
6. What lifestyle changes have impacted your success?
Total lifestyle shift by cutting alcohol consumption almost entirely out of my life, cooking food primarily at home for nutritional and financial reasons, and strict portion control and eating until not hungry as opposed to eating until full. Total workout philosophy shift by focusing less on lifting big to a more cardio and HIIT-focused lifting. Total outlook on life shift by focusing on working on bettering myself by growing my self-worth, confidence and self-esteem.
7. How has the wellness program, coach, and/or seminars added to your success?
I have absolutely gleaned some important information from the meetings and with the help of a cook book I received from Coach Paige, I have really expanded my comfort zone in the kitchen in respect to dishes I am challenging myself to prepare.
8. What new lifestyle behaviors will you continue to practice after you’ve reached your goal?
Cooking my own food has become more of a hobby for me now and something I plan of deep diving into. My workout routine and frequency (3-4 days a week) is something I plan on maintaining going forward in life. The benefits I feel, both physically and mentally, have become integral to my own wellbeing and something I wish to maintain.
9. How have these changes impacted people around you, from your perspective?
I have received a lot of attention and praise for the transformation my body has gone through. I have begun focusing on outwardly projecting the positive vibes I feel and encouraging others to seek out the change they desire. It takes more than someone telling you what to do though, I feel. It really takes effort and dedication from the individual. They have to WANT to do what it takes. They have to WANT to take the steps necessary to discover the change that they seek. I spent a couple years just going up and down from 315 to 325 and it took real dedication to get over the hump and see real results.
10. If you could tell people one or two key behaviors that you feel really helped you achieve your success thus far, what would it be??
A. CUT OUT THE ALCOHOL. Number one factor in my opinion. Portion and nutrition control being the next most important – you are only as good as what you put into your body. B. Truly dedicate yourself to a balanced workout routine (cardio to weightlifting ratio). It’s hard at first, and your body will be hurting, but it gets easier and you learn to enjoy the pain, I promise you.
From all of us at AHW, Congratulations to Michael on all of your hard work and dedication. We are so proud of you – keep it up!
